East Vally Partnership Announces Vote to Endorse Covance Expansion to East Valley

Chandler, AZ - East Valley Partnership today announced that their board of directors has voted to endorse the plans of medical research company Covance to build a new facility on the Price Road Corridor in Chandler.

"We're pleased to have Covance interested in expanding to the East Valley, and after discussing the positive impact this would have, we passed a resolution that we would support Covance's pursuit of locating here.  This is the kind of business development that will continue to provide the potential for growth and improve our quality of life in the East Valley," said President and CEO Roc Arnett.

Arnett cited the company's potential benefits to educational programs at Arizona State University, Maricopa Community Colleges, bio-technology, and bioscience, as well as job creation, and new business for East Valley companies that will likely contract with Covance.

Covance, which purchased land west of Price Road last year, filed an application with city planning officials requesting a minor zoning change that would allow construction of a facility designed to test new medicines. Covance has made significant contributions to the development of life-saving and life-enhancing new medicines for breast cancer, infections, heart disease, leukemia, diabetes, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, and many other disabling diseases.  More than 1,200 jobs would potentially be created at the new facility, and the Chandler City Council is expected vote on the request later this year.

With headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey, Covance (NYSE: CVD) is one of the world's largest and most comprehensive drug development services companies with annual revenues greater than $1 billion, global operations in over 20 countries, and more than 7,500 employees worldwide. Offering drug development solutions from preclinical through commercialization, Covance is a world-class provider of medical research services.
